'Stranger Things' Star Charlie Heaton Is Starring In Two Huge Horror Movies This Year

Charlie Heaton has certainly gotten quite comfortable within the horror genre, seeing as this film is just one of two horrors we’ll see him take on between this year and mid-2019.

Heaton may be more known for his character of Jonathan Byers, Will’s older brother and Nancy’s partner-in-crime in Stranger Things, but 2018 will see him build a much larger name for himself in Hollywood, with two upcoming horror films set to get people talking.

The first is Marrow Bone, which will see the 24-year-old play a young man who, alongside his three siblings, keeps the death of their mother a secret, so that they can all stay together. Things get tricky, however, when a mysterious, demonic entity begins to plague their home.

With a host of young talent making up its cast, Marrow Bone already looks set for big things. Anna Taylor-Joy, who gained popularity from the 2015 horror flick The Witch, stars in Marrow Bone alongside Heaton, and George MacKay (Pride, How I Live Now) also features. Mia Goth, who fans may recognise from A Cure for Wellness and Everest, will play one of the siblings too.

This film will be directorial debut of Sergio G. Sánchez, who famously wrote the screenplays for The Impossible (2012)  and The Orphanage (2007).

The second horror flick that Heaton will star in comes from Marvel, and it’ll actually be their first venture into the genre – which is exciting, to say the least.

The film – named The New Mutants – will feature Anna Taylor-Joy, and Game of Thrones actress, Maisie Williams as young mutants who must escape from a mental asylum. The New Mutants was initially slated for a 2018 release, but due to some scheduling issues on Disney’s side, we’ll be getting it much later than intended.

2019, to be more precise.

Whilst that does sound like a bummer, the good news it that we’ll have Marrow Bone to tide us over until Heaton’s next film arrives. And, who knows? We might even be getting a third season of Stranger Things before then too (although, to be honest, it’s kind of looking like we might have to wait until 2019 for that as well).
