'The Incredibles 2' Trailer Is Here, And It Definitely Does Not Disappoint

‘The Incredibles 2’ is the long-awaited sequel to 2004’s ‘The Incredibles’ that fans have been tapping their feet for.

In those 14 years, computer animation has become a little more refined, a little more sophisticated, and a lot more impressive, but, from the looks of things, the superhero family is the same that we’ve come to love.

While multiple teasers have already been released about the film – including one of baby Jack-Jack that appeared to hint that he had laser eyes – this is the first proper full-length trailer offered by Pixar.

Although sequels often set themselves a few months or years in the future from the original film, The Incredibles 2 is going to pick up literally five minutes after the culmination of the first.

Untitled-1

Despite Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) warning her family that “superheroes are illegal”, we see her being thrust into the limelight by businessman Winston Deavor (Bob Odenkirk), who has aims to publicise superhero talents.

Elastigirl, according to Deavor, is the ideal poster-woman for his agenda.

Like a modern man, Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) steps up to allow his wife to further her career, struggling through the duties of domestic life.

Untitled-2

We see his botched attempts at helping Dash with his homework (curse you Common Core), looking after baby Jack-Jack – who is going through a bit of a superpower transformation – and falling asleep mid story-telling. He claims, “I have to succeed, so she can succeed, so WE can succeed” – you tell ’em, Mr. Incredible.

Thankfully, stand-out character from the original film and everybody’s favourite superhero designer, Edna Moll (Brad Bird), will be making a pint-sized return in her over-sized glasses. Informing Mr. Incredible in her nasal voice, “When done properly parenting is a heroic act. Done PROPERLY”.

All of the original cast members will be returning (bar Spencer Fox, who’s voice had deepened too much to voice Dash again), with newbies including Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), and Catherine Keener (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) joining the ensemble.
