Ed Sheeran "Got Booed" As People Are Raging Over His Grammy Win

Share

It might surprise you to learn that people are divided about Ed Sheeran’s victory at the Grammys last night. Surely he’s everyone’s favourite ginger nut? With universally adored songs like Shape of You and Thinking Out Loud, his victory should be celebrated?! However, with artists like Kesha and Lady Gaga missing out, people are a little pissed.

Not only did the singer not turn up to the awards ceremony, it seems like he slept through as evidenced by his post on Instagram the morning after.

Dropped a clanger there Ed!

With Ed being the only male contestant in the solo performance category, for many people his win seemed contradictory to movements like #METOO which was represented at the ceremony with celebs donning white roses. It’s part of the red-carpet activism that is sweeping Hollwood right now.

Some even booed when his name was announced.

It’s worth mentioning Kesha’s emotionally charged performace of her song Praying. She was joined on stage by Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Andra Day, Julia Michaels and Bebe Rexha and the Resistance Revival Chorus. Lady Gaga’s performance was also heartfelt as it was in honour for her best friend who lost the battle to cancer. Compare this to Sheeran’s absence and you’ve got yourself a storm on Twitter.

Ed’s win has sparked bad feelings towards the music industry, with many people marking this as typical and hating on his songs because they lack creativity and originality.

However, the important thing here is that Ed had a decent night’s sleep.
