Dancing Hopper Is The Amazing 'Stranger Things 2' Meme We've All Been Waiting For

Share

Warning: There are minor ‘Stranger Things 2’ spoilers ahead. But don’t worry, I haven’t even finished watching it yet so there’s nothing in here that’s going to completely ruin it for you.

‘Stranger Things 2’ finally dropped on Friday, and while most people are obsessing over everyone’s favourite character, Steve Harrington, surprisingly, there are a lot of other things going on as well.

One of the overarching plot points of the new season is the relationship between Sheriff Jim Hopper and Eleven, and during a flashback scene in the third episode we see the two laying low in Hopper’s grandfather’s old cabin deep in the woods.

As you’d imagine, there really isn’t a lot to do in a dusty cabin in the middle of nowhere, so in a bid to provide some light-hearted entertainment, Hopper puts Jim Croce’s “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim” and has a little groove.

And thus, a new meme was born.

Soon after, a new Twitter account called @HopperDancingTo emerged that’s dedicated to making ol’ Hopper dance to a wonderfully eclectic mix of music.

People have started pitting the sheriff against the likes of Hall and Oates, Earth, Wind & Fire, *NSync, Taylor Swift and Future, to name a few, and they’re every bit as good as you’d expect.

The account even caught the attention of actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, who requested a video of Hopper dancing to Justin Bieber:

While David Harbour, who plays Hopper, said the account had not only won the internet, but his stone cold heart too:

Here’s some of the best:

Fans were obviously loving it:

Harbour even made his own request:

To which the account duly obliged:

Good work, internet people.
